In an excerpt from “I Know the Truth, So Don't Bother Me with Facts” written by Jeffrey Kluger, it has been stated that people are “easily deceived by rumors and flat-out lies.  The topic of discussion was regarding the “supposed planned mosque at Ground Zero” in downtown Manhattan. In order to gain a perspective on how realistic this point of view truly is regarding false beliefs, a research study was conducted at Ohio State University by R. Kelly Garrett and Erik Nisbet to study the false beliefs and what would it take to change people’s point of view regarding such false beliefs.
The two conclusions that were drawn from the study were 1) peoples belief systems are easily manipulated when shown devious pictures or inflammatory quotes; 2) a small percentage of people are willing to change their point of view despite finding out the “facts” were false.
